Flow is an exploration of colour, surface and materiality. Kapoor’s chromatic etchings, Flow Red, Flow Green and Breathing Blue use subtle gradations of colour to create an illusion of depth. Interested in the interplay of mass, void and optics, Kapoor’s etchings combine western Minimalist sensibilities with the Sanskrit principle of Bindu, the point from which all experiences are born, where creation begins and returns. These works make reference to rich pigment-based works the artist was creating in India in the 1970’s.
